Creating the commercial

These instructions describe how to create a radio commercial with Easy Songwriter.

A. Make sure that Easy Songwriter version 1.2 or later is installed on your computer. You can check by opening the 'About' panel which should read: "Version: Vrn1.2"

It is important that you have a basic understanding of the program before you try to create the commercial. Read the program help file if you do not fully understand what it does and how to accomplish certain tasks.  

The steps below assume that you understand the program and only provide high level actions.

B. Following the usual steps from the program start panel, do the following:

Step 1: Select 'Radio Spot Competition 1' as the name of your song. This is also the name of the Demo file that must be sent to us.

Step 2: When you record the backtrack, navigate to the 'competition' folder and select 'Ad1.mid' as the backtrack for your commercial.

Step 3: Record the background music after setting the correct volume levels. (Refer to the program help file if you do not know how to do this)

Step 4: Write the words and record the melody while singing your song. You may record a voice track only if you feel your singing voice is not up to scratch.

Spice up your ad by recording sound effects on Voice Track 2.

You can either create your own sound effects and record them through the microphone
or ...
if you do a search on the Internet you'll find many .wav files with pre-recorded sound effects.

The final step is to create the 'Demo recording' that should be sent to us. Again, refer to the program help file (Step 5) that describes in detail how to record a demo.

The file that you must send to us can be located in the following directory:

C:\program files\Easy Songwriter\songs\Radio Spot Competition 1_4.wav

IMPORTANT
Make sure that you include all the information described on the main competition page (Contact info, photo, etc).
